Installation situations and applications for connection systems in hydraulics are extremely demanding and complex. With a connection component alone - no matter how good the technology is - the requirements of the markets cannot be met. With plug-in connection systems, such as STH-C, many different installation situations and hydraulics applications have to be covered. For this reason, we developed STH-C further to a complete solution. A complete solution – as we understand it – also includes consultancy and training of our customers in addition to the connection components. Hereby, we can assist you as follows:
- Consultancy and support for the customer's development and construction from the problem definition through the idea and finally to series production
- Provision of drawing s and CAD data for the construction
- Training and handling workshops for assembly line staff, the service area an the test facility

Direct porting is one of the major advantages of the plug-in system STH-C developed by Johannes Schäfer GmbH. This is a profiled bore, which can be directly inserted in a component (e.g. pump, valve, cylinder etc.). By this profiled bore and a retaining ring to be assembled, the STH-C plug can directly be connected with the respective component. While developing STH-C, we paid attention to adjust the depth of the profiled bore to the measurements of the standard threaded hole of the respective installation size. An adaption via a thread to be inserted with a corresponding thread adapter can be eliminated completely. This results in several advantages for the customer:
- Cost saving by elimination of the thread adapter
- Elimination of one sealing point by omission of the adapter
- Reduction of number of connection parts along with reduction of weight
- Significant reduction of required installation space
(due to lower construction height as with adaption and no tools are necessary for the assembly)
The insertion of a profiled bore can be carried out by the respective device manufacturer upon licensing. Hereby, we offer our customers comprehensive support regarding:
- Assistance in choosing the production tools for the profiled bore and a list of known sources of supply for these tools
- Provision of test methods, test instructions and inspection tools for the profiled bore
- Provision of installation instructions and assembly tools for the retaining ring
- Provision of protective plugs for the profiled bore

Pipeline systems
Pipeline with STH-C connection on both sides

Generally, pipelines consist of the connection technology and bent pipe in between. If the desired connection technology is STH-C on one or both sides of the pipe, we are also pleased to offer you the requested complete pipeline. Here, we only need the usual technical specifications regarding the pipe to be used, information on the bending coordinates and the requested connection components of the individual connection sides. Applying the same approach, with provision of the requested hose profile, we can also offer you special tube elbows for STH-C with hose connection as complete part.

Connection part STH-C with integrated test connection, in order to be able to measure test pressures

In some cases, standard connection components are not suitable in the areas service and test facility. Here, there are partly different requirements than for the initial assembly. In close collaboration with the service and quality assurance departments of our customers, we developed a parts range especially for these applications. In this connection, the actual application (in a truck, tractor or forklift truck) plays a minor role. The main focus is on other requirements. Please find some examples below.
Simplification of the release mechanism for recurring tests of hydraulics circuits at the end of an assembly line. For this purpose we offer a release ring, which is affixed to the plug, as alternative for the release tool.

In case a line needs to be repaired on site, we offer an adaption as junction from the plug-in system to DKOL connection in the service area. This is used if a hydraulic line needs to be exchanged in urgent cases, however, there is no ready line available on site.
